Haters will say it's fake, but I need this wholesome content in my life, okay?
A restaurant in York Beach, Maine, reportedly received a $100 tip and an apology letter from a customer who apparently rage-quit because of the restaurant's slow service on 4th of July weekend.
"Can you please give this $100.00, along with my apology to the girl who was at the hostess station/podium taking names to be seated for dinner on Monday July 5th at around 5-6pm," the anonymous note reads.
"I was very rude to her -- which is out of character for me -- I have way more respect for people than I showed that day. Pre-dinner cocktails before getting to the Bluff may have contributed -- No excuse."
"This [is] coming from a guy who tells people to be kind to service staff and tip big, post-pandemic -- how hypocritical."
"You never want to be 'that guy' and that I was 'that guy' -- sincerely sorry."
And to top it off, the note was signed, "An embarrassed customer."
"It's very heartwarming, it's a very nice thing to do," said Tammy Stirk Ramsey, who works at the restaurant. "It's the first time that's happened. And it was really touching. It made me feel good."
That's right, Tammy! It makes us feel good, too, and that's why we're onto this story. The haters can take a hike!
"There've been so many people who have said almost the same thing who have been kind of rude, so I'm not 100 percent sure I remember who exactly he was," Ramsey said, referring to the anonymous customer who sent the $100 and apology letter.
"[It] goes a long way, with people owning up to having a fault and making a mistake," Ramsey said. "Everybody makes mistakes … [but] not everybody apologizes for them or owns up to it. So [it's] commendable."
In this age of Cancel Culture, it is quite refreshing to read about (1) a sincere apology and (2) a person's willingness to forgive. More of this please.
