New NY governor adds 12,000 Covid deaths to the official state count that Andrew Cuomo hadn't disclosed to the public

Way back in the yesteryear of May 2020, the Associated Press reported that disgraced former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo had sent at least 4,300 Covid-positive patients into nursing homes.

A few months later, this number was revised to at least 6,300 patients. Most of the media was silent. They were promoting Cuomo's new book about his amazing leadership skills, after all.

It was only a year later when a U.S. District Attorney's office said they were investigating Cuomo and the NY Attorney General said the same that most of the nation learned that the guy was hiding deaths... and that the number was now closer to 9,000.

Now that the good governor has retired over his sexual harassment scandal, new NY Gov. Kathy Hochul officially added 12,000 deaths to the Covid death tally that Cuomo's office refused to acknowledge.

Delivering another blow to what's left of former Gov. Andrew Cuomo's legacy, New York's new governor acknowledged on her first day in office that the state has had nearly 12,000 more deaths from COVID-19 than Cuomo told the public.

"The public deserves a clear, honest picture of what's happening. And that's whether it's good or bad, they need to know the truth. And that's how we restore confidence," Gov. Kathy Hochul said on NPR.

In its first daily update on the outbreak Tuesday evening, Hochul's office reported that nearly 55,400 people have died of the coronavirus in New York based on death certificate data submitted to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

That's up from about 43,400 that Cuomo reported to the public as of Monday, his last day in office.

I don't know about you, but not reporting over 20% of all deaths seems like a pretty big deal!

Not all of these were officially nursing home residents. The added deaths included those who died at home, in hospice, in prisons, in state-run facilities for the disabled, and people who had died before they could get a lab-confirmed Covid test.

Of course, Gov. Kathy Hochul was lieutenant governor under Cuomo, so you've got to wonder why she didn't blow the lid off this months ago.

Like clockwork, the Left began chalking this up as a victory and saying the REAL problems lie in Florida. You can expect this to be spun somehow in someway to be all about Ron DeSantis. Should be fun!
