According to sources, Marco Rubio told lawmakers yesterday that Trump does intend to purchase Greenland.
Trump has said repeatedly that acquiring Greenland is important for national security, citing Chinese and Russian interest in the region.

Mikkel Runge Olesen, a researcher at the Danish Institute for International Studies in Copenhagen, seems to think acquiring Greenland should be simple for the U.S.:
The U.S. has such a free hand in Greenland that it can pretty much do what it wants. I have a very hard time seeing that the U.S. couldn't get pretty much everything it wanted, if it just asked nicely.
The region is also rich in natural resources including oil, gas, and rare earth minerals that are being left in the ground thanks to Europe's draconian environmental regulations.
Additionally, the country has only 57,000 residents, who have the freedom to hold a referendum on being annexed.
And get this, after Rubio's comments, Greenland and Denmark are asking for talks.

Will a deal be made during this meeting? Time will tell.
