Last year, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court agreed to the Greenberg family's request to reopen the suicide case of first-grade teacher Ellen Greenberg. For some reason they were never satisfied with that ruling.
Greenberg was stabbed 20 times, including 10 times to the back of the head and neck.
The coroner originally ruled her death a homicide, but police pressured him to change his ruling.
Philadelphia Medical Examiner Marlon Osbourne initially ruled Greenberg's death a homicide because of the large number of stab wounds, but when police challenged his finding, the ME switched his ruling to suicide without an explanation.
Nothing fishy there!
Greenberg's fiancé, Josh Goldberg (who has ties to the Bidens and Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro), found her body after breaking down her door.
Now that the case is reopened, the coroner has once again changed direction back to his original ruling.
Osbourne said his latest determination was made after new information related to the case came to light.
'For example, whether Ellen's fiancé was witnessed entering the apartment before placing the 9-1-1 call on January 26, 2011; whether the door was forced open as reported; whether Ellen's body was moved by someone else inside the apartment with her at or near the time of her death,' Osbourne wrote.
Is it just me, or does it sound like he's guessing it was the fiancé, in the kitchen, with the knife?
But for legal purposes, I will state clearly that the police still maintain there's no suspicion of Goldberg in foul play.
(You know, the same police who challenged Osbourne's original ruling of suicide.)
If the state supreme court rules the parents can overturn the suicide, it still doesn't mean the case will be reopened by police, but the family could pursue ...
... victim's compensation, restitution or for wrongful death, as well as private criminal complaints.
In other words, they could file civil suits just like Nicole Simpson's family did after the jury voted to acquit O.J. Simpson, and at least get some justice for their daughter's death.
