Michigan college wants abortion stories from trans people for their “Abortion Monologues” performance

Before we even get into this, let's start by saying anything that glorifies the murder of children is an abomination, and the very fact that Kalamazoo College in Michigan is hosting a drama called "Abortion Monologues" is horrendous.

But these days, if you're going to do something horrific, you might as well make it stupid too.

That's why this year's "Abortion Monologues" is all about trans voices and their abortion experience.

Over a decade ago, we at the Kalamazoo College Mary Jane Underwood Stryker Center for Civic Engagement partnered with Planned Parenthood of Michigan to interview people who had used PP's services for various reasons (mostly abortions but also vasectomies, std treatment, etc.). Similar to the more familiar Vagina Monologues, students in a Center for Civic Engagement course transcribed these interviews to create an annual dramatic reading of these monologues. But we only had voices representing cis gender men and women. This year, we hope to center LGBTQ and particularly trans stories in response to the political landscape around reproductive and gender affirming healthcare.

There's not enough equity in abortion apparently. How come all those "trans women" with male anatomy aren't talking about their abortion experiences?

It should be interesting to see if any "trans men" (AKA women dressed like men) show up!

Why not just do a production of Alice in Wonderland?

It would be far less insane.
