I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS ISN'T SATIRE.

The Republicans have a radical proposal that IRS agents, who work for the government, should show up to the office!

Some dude whose name is "Gleb" informed us in an opinion piece in The Hill that, well, I'll let you read the headline.

The IRS would be CRIPPLED if we forced them to do their job at the office!

Won't someone think of the poor IRS agents!?

Half of IRS agents are now working remotely according to recent testimony. Folks like Gleb Tsipursky think that this makes the IRS more efficient. Republicans think it just makes the IRS more powerful.

The attack by (Kansas Republican) Estes on telework at the IRS fits within this broader agenda. Telework has proven highly beneficial for the operations of the U.S. government, but his agenda has less to do with an efficient IRS than it does with a less powerful IRS...

In other words, the IRS gains tremendous benefits from telework in its operations. On the one hand, its employees are more productive and engaged, enabling them to perform their jobs better. On the other hand, the IRS is better able to retain its best staff and recruit better talent, improving the quality of human capital responsible for gathering government revenue.

Oh man, would showing up to the office be too hard for the poor tax collectors?

This idea that Gleb thinks we should have sympathy for the IRS, or that we would care if it was "crippled" is laughable.

90% of Republicans (a stat I just made up) think the IRS should be abolished!

Whatever it takes to crush the IRS, I'm all for it!
