In this crazy-but-awesome story, a 12-year-old girl in Maine was reunited with a family heirloom that had been missing since last October. Madison Cooper had been planting garlic at a local educational garden last year when she realized her ring had fallen off her finger (a common occurrence, as any fan of Lord of the Rings knows):
(Some rings really have a bad habit of falling off.)
The ring, which was originally a gift from Madison's grandpa to her grandma, had been given to her in 2012 after her grandpa died. Madison was heartbroken to lose it, and thought she'd never see it again.
And so, that was that. Some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend. Legend became myth. And for nine long months, the ring passed out of all knowledge.
Before this article goes off the rails with more Tolkien quotes (๐), to everyone's surprise, the ring was found in late July by a worker at the garden. Even more surprising was the fact that a garlic plant had grown through the ring. Check out the full story here:
Yay for a happy ending! How... precious. ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐
