Missouri's AG says his office is looking into allegations from X Corp that Media Matters committed fraud to hurt X's bottom line. Details here.

Andrew Bailey is quickly becoming my favorite attorney general.

We've told you all about Media Matters' hit job on Elon Musk, and that Elon Musk is going "thermonuclear" on them in response.

Well, now it looks like Media Matters may be facing MORE legal troubles from the State of Missouri.

Yesterday, one of X Corp's top business operations executives, Joe Benarroch, claimed that Media Matters artificially pumped up article views, manipulated the algorithm, and misled advertisers in order to attack Elon Musk.

This would be fraud, folks. Remember, this campaign may have just cost X Corp hundreds of millions in revenue (its revenue was $4.4 billion in 2022) when Apple and a bunch of other top-tier advertisers withdrew all their ad funds in response to the Media Matters story. If you lie to put people you don't like out of business, well, even in our messed-up country, people still frown on things like that!

These are allegations, but the accusation is compelling enough that Mizzou's AG Andrew Bailey and his team are going to investigate the claims:

A conservative AG standing up for free speech and investigating these claims is a HUGE deal.

I don't want to sound biased in any way, but ...

If the allegations of a Media Matters hoax are true, I hope the full force of the law will be rained down and there will be nothing left of the organization but a distant memory.
