Mount Etna in Sicily is Europe's most active volcano, with its last big eruption occurring in 1992.

Over the last week, the volcano began spewing lava and ash again in multiple eruptions. Take a gander at some of the insane pictures and videos that have been shared:

Fortunately, the ancient cities of Sicily are positioned out of the destructive path of the lava, but ash and smoke have washed over nearby towns in the past few days. No injuries have been reported.

Still, if I were in the shadow of the red hot lava of Mount Doom, I might have a little trouble getting to sleep at night.
