Mount Etna in Sicily is Europe's most active volcano, with its last big eruption occurring in 1992.

Fortunately, the ancient cities of Sicily are positioned out of the destructive path of the lava, but ash and smoke have washed over nearby towns in the past few days. No injuries have been reported.
