Hero: "Please tell me the baby's okay."

Female Medic: "Yeah, she's okay."

Hero: "100%?"

Male Medic: "Yeah, you did good dude."

We need a million more men like him. Holy cow.

Here's the details:

Nicholas Bostic, 25, was driving through a neighborhood in Lafayette, Indiana last Monday when he saw a house going up in flames around midnight.

He quickly went around to the back door and started yelling inside, waking up four of the kids aged 1 to 18 that were sleeping in the house (no idea where the adults were). He helped each of them get outside, but then the children realized another child, aged 6, was still in the house.

That's when Bostic went back inside.

The kids alerted Bostic that a 6-year-old might still be inside and he ran back in "without hesitation," returning to the bedroom upstairs, according to the release. When he couldn't find anyone, he began to search for an exit before hearing crying coming from downstairs.

Bostic wrapped his shirt around his mouth and nose as he braved a "black lagoon" of smoke in the stairwell to retrieve the child. As he couldn't find the door he used through the thick smoke, they returned upstairs where Bostic punched a window out before jumping to the ground while making sure the child landed safely, the LPD states.

Bostic suffered a gash on his arm, "severe smoke inhalation," and got some gnarly burns, but he was quickly treated and is recovering.

His girlfriend posted this to Facebook last Wednesday when he was cleared to go home.
