The lefties are right: It's important that we don't forget January 6th.
It's not because it was "the darkest day for democracy" or that there was any threat whatsoever of the Republic being overturned. It wasn't an insurrection.
Let Tucker spell it out:
Yeah, we've got a lot to ponder.
(If you want the full Tucker clip, you can find it here)
Remember, people still remained jailed indefinitely โ a year and a half after trespassing into a federal building โ without an idea of when they are going to trial (this is 100% illegal under the Constitution).
The 6th Amendment states:
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.
Meanwhile, the Biden administration has dropped all charges against Stephen Colbert's staff who were arrested for trespassing at the Capitol. Understandably the circumstances were very different, but the principle remains. After all, a 69-year-old cancer patient is serving 60 days in federal prison for walking into the Capitol on Jan 6!
So why is a man we've all seen on multiple videos still completely untouched by the FBI? Why is The New York Times defending this MAGA-hat-wearing man who called for people to go into the Capitol??
I mean, the FBI raided the home of the leading Michigan gubernatorial candidate for the GOP, and he wasn't even in the Capitol that day, nor did he say anything to incite people to violence or crime!
It makes ya think!
