New Jersey man faces charges for calling 911 after someone lit a scented candle inside

Alfredo Gonzalez, 34, of New Jersey is facing charges for misuse of a 911 emergency line by the Guttenberg Police Department after he called to complain that someone lit an indoor scented candle in his vicinity.

It's not actually a crime to light a candle, but I've heard those things are full of toxic chemicals, so maybe he has a point.

If that wasn't unhinged enough, he also "fabricated mental health concerns to urge the response further" according to police.

So not only did he believe lighting the candle was a criminal offense, but also that the person responsible for lighting the candle was in need of a mental health evaluation because of it.

Guttenberg Police Lieutenant Ramadanovic told Fox News,

It's just a shame that people have used the mental health system, and they try to fabricate mental health emergencies in order to cause issues because it's not intended for that, that our purpose is to help people, EMS, us. That's our job.

Gonzalez continued to abuse the emergency line by making repeated complaints regarding parking before he was ultimately arrested and charged with fourth-degree crimes of false public alarm and misuse of a 911 emergency line.

It really sounds like this Gonzalez guy just needs to chill out. Maybe take a bath and light a few candles. Oh, wait...
