This is the largest evacuation order given since 2017.
Landfall of Hurricane Milton is expected Wednesday afternoon. Gov. DeSantis, who mobilized the Florida State Guard, linemen, and temporary bridges to help multiple states after Hurricane Helene, is already sending resources and personnel to key areas ahead of Milton.
Regarding the dumps referenced in that post, DeSantis pushed to make sure they are open 24 hours a day so that debris from Helene is collected ahead of Milton:
While not all evacuations zones are under a mandatory evacuation order, some coastal communities (particularly around Tampa Bay) must leave ahead of the storm.

If you live in a low-lying area that's prone to flooding, in a mobile home, or an unsafe structure, those areas may be ordered to evacuate during a hurricane, either part of a voluntary evacuation or a mandatory evacuation.

Type in your address. It will then let you know if you're in a flood zone, and if you are, what zone.
