Man alive, Boeing cannot stay out of the news!

United Airlines has asked Boeing to stop production on the 737 Max 10.

United Airlines Holdings asked Boeing to stop building 737 Max 10 jets as the carrier switches to a smaller variant of the narrowbody plane and places orders with rival Airbus.

Boeing's stock after the news:

Boeing was in the news this week because of a whistleblower who was mysteriously killed.

And, well, because there are literally daily aircraft failures being caught on video at this point. Here's one I didn't even see until I stumbled across it while writing this story:

The head of the 737 Max division was recently relieved of his duties and has been replaced.

But that wasn't enough for United, which plans to switch to rival company Airbus to fulfill its aircraft needs at the moment.

"We've asked Boeing to stop building Max 10s -- which they've done for us -- and start building Max 9s," Scott Kirby, chief executive of United, said Tuesday at a J.P. Morgan investor conference. "It's impossible to say when Max 10 is going to get certified."

After the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration approves the Max 10 to fly, which is expected this year, United plans to switch back to the longer plane. The certification is uncertain as Boeing grapples with manufacturing problems and several investigations into its quality controls.

United previously had 277 firm orders on the books for the Max 10, along with options to buy 200 more planes.

What a MAJOR setback for the largest manufacturer of commercial planes in the world.

Maybe a few more DEI policies will help!
