Zohran Mamdani, who was sworn in Thursday morning (on a Quran) as New York's mayor, named Al Qaeda's defense as his chief counsel.
Not satire. Take a look at the private ceremony in an abandoned subway tunnel (such a villain arc!):
Kassem grew up in the Middle East and did not migrate to the United States until he attended college in New York. As a lawyer, he represented Ahmed al-Darbi, a senior Al Qaeda member whose brother-in-law hijacked one of the 9/11 planes.
In 1998, Kassem wrote an article about Palestinian attacks on Israel, saying, "... it would be more logical to acknowledge that terrorism is but one of many reactions to oppression and dispossession and not their cause."
AT CUNY Law School, Kassem created an organization that advises some of the most extreme anti-Zionist groups in the city.
Kassem has also been honored by CAIR, which was recently designated a terror organization by the states of Texas and Florida (it is also considered a terror group by the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt).
Kassem has also been honored by members of the Soros family (Paul Soros was the older brother of George Soros).
Kassem is also representing Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian student at Columbia who had his visa revoked by the Trump admin due to violent rhetoric (a leftist judge blocked his deportation, of course).
In addition, Kassem has claimed Antifa is just an idea ... one that Trump is exploiting to enact tyranny.
New York needs to be on standby for another major disaster, but this time ... well:
It's not that they forgot.
Half of Mamdani's voters weren't even born in NYC.
So much of the city is made of foreign migrants now that a huge chunk of the city simply doesn't care.
