I can't believe this is real.

The city of Oakland, California is giving UBI in the form of $500 per month to low income families, "no strings attached."

Literally unless they're white:

The mayor of Oakland, California, on Tuesday announced a privately funded program that will give low-income families of color in the city $500 per month with no rules on how they can spend it.

To be eligible, individuals must have at least one child under the age 18 and an income that is at or below 50% of the area median income — about $59,000 per year for a family of three.

Half the spots are reserved for people who earn less than 138% of the federal poverty level, or about $30,000 per year for a family of three.

So it's based on income. Got it. But wait a minute ... it's not just income.

Local people of color only

Oakland's project is significant because it is one of the largest efforts in the U.S. so far, targeting up to 600 families. And it is the first program to limit participation strictly to Black, Indigenous and people of color communities.

That means everyone but white people. That's really real. You just read that.

You gotta love how they use all the extra words: they say the program is "limited strictly to Black, Indigenous and people of color communities" when they could just say "no whites."

So they chop everyone up based on income and then just toss all the white people.

"How could they possibly justify that?" you ask.

They answer:

The reason: White households in Oakland on average make about three times as much annually than black households, according to the Oakland Equity Index. It's also a nod to the legacy of the Black Panther Party, the political movement that was founded in Oakland in the 1960s.

Please try to comprehend how nonsensical this is. The reason whites are excluded from this UBI program is because, they say, white households ON AVERAGE make more money than black households based on some SURELY PURELY OBJECTIVE "equity index."

SO??? What the heck does that have to do with the white people in Oakland who fall under the income levels used as qualifiers in the program?

"Sorry, local white family, you're dirt poor but on average people with skin color similar to yours make more than people with darker skin color — even though you obviously don't — so you don't count lol."

"OH also, dirt-poor local white family, we want to honor the Black Panthers, so yeah, we don't care about you. Hope that helps you feel better. Maybe next time try not being white."

A city government is actually running a welfare program that explicitly excludes some people strictly because of their race.

I keep typing it but I'm still finding it hard to believe that it's real.

This is nothing but pure racism.
