"Oh well, we're open”: Watch a New Jersey gym owner shrug off hundreds of thousands in fines for defying COVID lockdowns 😤
· Aug 25, 2021 · NottheBee.com

There's guts, and then there's American guts, and then there's whatever mythological, legendary level of American guts this guy is working at.

Ian Smith is one of the owners of the Atilis Gym in Bellmawr, New Jersey. He and his partner have resolutely defied various COVID-19 lockdown and mitigation orders issued by New Jersey Gov. Chris Murphy. And they're paying for it. Brutally. To the tune of $15,479.76 per day.

Smith claims the state has seized $173,000 from the gym and "drained the business dry" and has been given authority to "pierce through" the business and fine him and his partner directly, potentially putting them on the hook for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

"Oh well, we're open."

Bravery beyond measure. Best of luck, fellas.
