Polish sports journalist dismissed from Olympics coverage for describing John Lennon's "Imagine" as "a vision of communism"

If ever you feel like communism is some antiquated ideology that has gone to the ash-heap of history, well, just know that its enablers and champions are still very much alive and well:

Polish journalist and sports commentator Przemyslaw Babiarz has been suspended from the Paris Olympics after labeling John Lennon's 'Imagine' a 'vision of communism.'

During the 2024 Olympics, the famed song — written by the late Beatle — was sung by French singer Juliette Armanet at the opening ceremony that took place on the Seine River in Paris on Friday.

While it was playing, the Polish state broadcaster said on air, 'This is a vision of communism, unfortunately.'

Anyone who has ever listened to the lyrics of "Imagine" is like:

I mean, Lennon was not subtle about it, folks:

Imagine there's no heaven ...

Imagine there's no countries ...

Nothing to kill or die for

And no religion, too ...

Imagine no possessions

Don't know what else to do but call that what it is!

Poland, of course, was at the epicenter of European communism in the early-to-mid 20th century, so its people still recall well the horrors of that deadly, psychopathic ideology.

Still, the truth apparently can't be plainly stated, at least at the Olympics:

Criticize the communist regime, get disappeared — nice to see nothing's changed after 100 years!

I'll leave you with The Babylon Bee's viral parody of Lennon's song:
