Megachurch pastor provides "USER MANUAL" for interacting with him in case you want to climb his corporate ladder

Here's another petty church tyrant for ya'!

Leaked internal documents seem to show megachurch Pastor Sam Picken of C3 Church in Toronto has a "User Manual" for how staff should interact with him.

This looks more like a mega-corporation (or mega-cult).

OUR LEADER - "We work for [Picken]"

I AM HERE TO SERVE MY LEADER. SO THE KEY TO MY SUCCESS IN THE ORGANIZATION IS MY ABILITY TO WORK IN THE WAY MY LEADER WANTS ME TO, EVEN IF IT IS NOT MY PREFERENCE.

This will go better if you understand how your leaders think.

The manual includes recommendations for various scenarios of interaction, such as how to present new ideas, how to disagree with Picken, and how to get promoted.

If staff want to present new ideas, then they are not allowed to "degrade what is already happening with the new idea." Rather, staff must "not add any adjectives" when making a suggestion," so as to allow the "team to decide what kind of idea it is" and avoid "people being offended."

Staff are also prohibited from publicly saying, "You're wrong," to Picken. Instead, staff members are to present it privately, and as a question rather than a statement: "'Have you thought about?' rather than, 'That's not right.'"

If the Lord is leading you to move away or leave the church, make a big life change. Talk to me the first time you have this thought. Not after you have made up your mind. Never say, "God told me" -- Say "This is what I feel."

Yeah, because staff members' plans are TOTALLY Picken's business to know immediately! Also, I'm sure this won't affect an employee's standing with Picken in any way whatsoever.

The manual also lists "phrases that don't need to be said."

I'll do my best. If you feel the need to say that, you're probably leaving room to not do your best. If you actually did your BEST, it would be evident and you would not have the need to say so.

Sorry I'm late. If you have reasons for dropping the ball they just sound like excuses. And giving excuses is pushing the blame off you. Maturity assumes responsibility.

I think we can guess who Picken himself actually serves.
