The internet is a weird and wonderful place, and sometimes it really gives us some great gifts. Today is one of those days. If you're on the 'Tok you may have seen some "candy salad" recipes floating around, which is just a lot of candy in a bowl, but it's called a salad to sound cute, and ironically unhealthy.
Well, someone has thought to put a Valentine's Day twist on this viral trend, so without further ado, I present to you what is truly the consumeristic peak of Valentine's Day: The Viral Valentine's Candy Salad.
I don't know about you, but watching that gives me the sudden urge to brush my teeth.
The creator of the colorful salad and the weird ASMR video of opening bags of candy is Jillian Pickard, who said she spent between $40-$50 on the variety of fruity candies. Which seems like a lot, but heck maybe that's what she buys for Valentine's Day regardless of whether she serves it out of one giant jar or not. Who am I to judge?
Pickard said of the salad,
You could do it for a Valentine's Day party. You could make it for friends [or] you could just keep it around the house and snack on it.
In fact, the "recipe" was so simple, I couldn't help but try it myself, so you better believe I pulled out my candy dish and poured the only Valentine's candy I bought this year into a bowl.
Look at me, I'm like a chef!
I really love how there are two colors because technically I only purchased the dark chocolate Dove hearts, but whoever fulfilled my Walmart order was feeling extra generous and threw in the milk chocolate as well, making my candy salad exactly 100% more colorful.
(Plus, I'm not one to complain about free chocolate.)
An extra candy bonus was that when I went to get my candy dish out of the cabinet I found half a bag of Conversation Hearts that I saved from last Valentine's Day (don't worry, I checked the expiration date and chalk has an amazing shelf life.) So I poured this bag of candy into another bowl and made myself a second candy salad.
Look at me, two salads in one day, I'm so healthy!
I can't wait to see all the beautiful candy creations you all will make this Valentine's Day, so PLEASE for the love of all that's good on the internet, share your candy salad pictures in the comments.
I'm excited to see what brilliant chefs all my NTB readers are!
