PETA: Don't say 'cheese' before taking a picture
· Mar 16, 2024 · NottheBee.com

PETA is out PETA-ing itself.

In their latest campaign, PETA is calling on people to stop saying "Cheese!" before a photo and use more "animal-friendly phrases" such as "peas," "bees," "trees," or even "nutritional yeast!"

They're urging us to adopt fresh phrases that "reflect our changing values," especially for the younger generations' dairy-free lifestyles.

According to PETA, when you smile big for a photo and say "cheese," what you are REALLY saying is "Babies slaughtered for veal" or "Calf-cow separation."

I mean, personally, that isn't what I am saying. I am saying "cheese" because I am awkward and struggle to smile on command.

But PETA says, "Cheese is nothing to smile about."

The campaign ad shows families posing together for a lovely photo while, at the same time, the photographer directs them to smile by saying things like "Repeated and forced impregnation!" and "Dehorning and tail-docking! Woo!"

Obviously, the ad is getting tons of backlash and mockery.

Way to go. You've done it again, internet.

Now, lighten up, PETA! Smile and say, "Cheese!"
