Pete Buttigieg's Department of Transportation bans funny electronic highway signs
· Jan 15, 2024 · NottheBee.com

It seems like just a couple of weeks ago we were all laughing at the best electronic traffic warnings of the year.

And maybe that's where we went wrong.

Remember the left is like Judge Doom in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. They hate, and I mean hate, humor.

From banning the Bee from Twitter, to firing a guy for telling jokes on his off hours, to publishing reports about memes being dangerous right-wing extremist propaganda, the left has continually signaled that humor is too dangerous to exist.

Now, the U.S. Federal Highway Administration, a subset of the Department of Transportation, has issued a new 1,100-page manual, which includes a section regulating Changing Message Signs (CMS).

And in Section 2L.07, the following regulation appears:

A CMS should not be used to display a traffic safety campaign message if doing so could adversely affect respect for the sign. Messages with obscure or secondary meanings, such as those with popular culture references, unconventional sign legend syntax, or that are intended to be humorous, should not be used as they might be misunderstood or understood only by a limited segment of road users and require greater time to process and understand. Similarly, slogan-type messages and the display of statistical information should not be used.

That's right. The unelected lefties in the federal government just effectively outlawed funny traffic signs.

Never mind the fact that some states run contests to come up with these signs, getting people involved in the process of highway safety. Completely ignore the fact that science has shown the humorous messages actually improve traffic safety.

Nope, the lefties don't want you laughing at anything anymore, EVER.

The regulations do not go into effect until 2026, so you'll get two more years of eye-rolling traffic safety groans, and then the party's over, pal.
