Illinois police ask teens to stop playing “Senior Assassins” after concealed carrier nearly puts two down

As far as social media trends go, there have been some stupid ones out there that got people hurt.

Eating tidepods, milk crate climbing, death diving … the list goes on and on.

Well, here's another one to add to the list that grownups are kindly asking teenagers to stop doing before someone ends up dead: Senior assassin.

The basic gist is that high school seniors with water guns get assigned a target to assassinate. You have to shoot your target before you yourself are assassinated.

It honestly sounds kind of fun if you're not dropping $8,000 like that guy in the video. (What teenager has that kind of dough laying around for fun money?)

The dangerous part of the challenge is that the kids are running around pretending they're John Wick out here.

Two kids in Gurnee, Illinois, almost got put down by a good guy with a gun and his concealed-carry permit when they burst into a restaurant brandishing water guns painted to look real and "killed" their targets in front of the other patrons. The hero had his gun out and ready but luckily for the teens, he hesitated.

The police warn that they don't have that luxury.

The unintentional result of participants running throughout the community with a water gun, some often resembling a look-alike firearm, could have deadly consequences.

Police in St. Charles, Illinois, warned about the game and gave examples of fake guns that might be used.

I'm pretty sure those are BB air pistols and not water guns painted to look real.

But the fact that the police can't tell the difference kind of makes the point, doesn't it?

People have a range of thoughts.

If you see that last guy passing through town, you'd best just let him keep walking.
