There's a serious possibility that the Democrats will shut down the government in order to prevent a bill requiring that you have to prove you're a citizen before you can vote.
Please, please, please let the Dems shut down the government before an election because they don't want to stop illegal immigrants from voting.

But calls are growing among House conservatives to use that must-pass measure to force consideration of a partisan bill aimed at barring noncitizens from voting - laying the groundwork for a clash with the Democratic-led Senate, which would likely reject such a package.
The hardline conservative House Freedom Caucus took an official position this month urging Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) to attach the measure, dubbed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, to spending legislation next month.
If you'll recall, the House has already passed the SAVE Act to prevent people illegally in the country from voting once before.
Only five Democrats agreed to it.
It wasn't brought up in the Senate because, well, Chuck Schumer and Kamala Harris run the Senate. So that wasn't going to happen.
Now the plan is for Republicans to tack the SAVE Act onto the spending bill and see if the Democrats will force a government shutdown (always an unpopular move) because they are THAT committed to non-secure elections.
Since then, the GOP conference's right flank has only ramped up public calls for the move, which has also seen some pick-up in the upper chamber and among prominent figures like tech mogul Elon Musk, as the party looks to seize on immigration as a key campaign issue ahead of November ...
[Speaker of the House Mike] Johnson has not dismissed the idea of attaching the SAVE Act, introduced by Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), saying on a press call last week that discussions are ongoing to 'build consensus to come up with the final decision.'
Mike, you have the chance to do something amazing: Make illegal immigration THE issue in the two months before the election, when early voting is started.
And the Democrats WILL shut down the government.
They have to!
If the Republicans can pull this off and do something smart, I'll be shocked, but I will also be so grateful.
