Public urination is literally eroding Baltimore’s historic buildings and I don't think I could come up with a better metaphor for the fall of civilization

When you think of a blue city, it's easy to get caught up in the mass-looting, the violence, the corruption, the drugs, the homelessness, etc.

But let's not forget the public defecation and urination.

In addition to being public health hazards, it turns out that historical buildings weren't made to be constantly peed on. Democrat-run Baltimore is currently facing a crisis in that its historical buildings are slowly being eroded away by public urination.

The city has 82,000 historical buildings.

Construction pre-1945 tended to use soft brick and mortar, which is susceptible to water erosion, and a steady-stream of acidic urine is only exacerbating the problem.

"It doesn't even matter what time it is. Every day and night," said local business owner Mohammed Kabir. "It's relentless."

He operates a convenience store at the corner of North Howard and Clay streets, a narrow alley with few cars and little foot traffic.

Kabir has only been working at this location for the past six months, where, in an attempt to ward off the stench, he's developed a daily routine of disinfecting and scrubbing the building's bricks, which have started to crack and crumble.

The buildings' foundations are starting to "crack and crumble" because people are peeing on them.

So, what happens when the pee erosion gets too bad?

Well, remember that car that took down a building in Baltimore a while back?

Soft brick and mortar.

But, you can't expect a Democrat-run city to beef up law enforcement and enforce anti-public-urination or vagrancy laws. That would be mean, and that's the worst sin there is in a "progressive" city.

Instead, they're looking to spend millions of dollars to build new public restrooms in areas with the most damage.

But there's also some fear that the public restrooms will become havens for drug users/dealers, so they also are considering springing for bathroom attendants.

(I'd show you how homeless populations regularly DESTROY public restrooms in other cities but the videos are so sickening you wouldn't watch.)

Imagine the type of person desperate enough to be a bathroom attendant in a dimly lit, crime-ridden Baltimore neighborhood.

Some business owners have tried to solve the problem on their own, putting up "No Urination" signs and cameras to discourage the practice.

In a sign of how bad the problem has become, one such business owner found himself accosted by a homeless man asking why he was installing cameras in their bathroom.

"No, we pee here,'" the man said.

Baltimore was not always this way. In 2002, the Baltimore State Attorney attempted to crack down on "nuisance" crimes like public urination, but the far-left homeless advocates staged an all-out campaign to stop the attempt.

They said, "so-called nuisance crimes must stop for the west-side revitalization to succeed."

After 20 years, nothing is revitalized, unless you count everything getting worse as "success."

And that's why the metaphor works so well: Because it's pretty clear at this point that far-left Democrats really do see the collapse of the West as "success."

The acidic liquid is also wreaking havoc on the world's tallest church in Germany, the historic streets of Paris, and medieval inns in London, where cities have opted to install "urine deflectors" and "open sidewalk urinals" to redirect bold tinklers.

They are figuratively and literally peeing away Western civilization.
