Watch: This putt at the PGA Championship stayed on the edge of the hole for 34 seconds before dropping

I've never seen one wait this long to drop before:

That was Lee Hodges for par on the 17th at the PGA Championship yesterday. Bananas.

There's a sad ending to the story though...

According to Rule 13.3, a player has a reasonable amount of time to reach his putt and then an additional 10 seconds before needing to play his next stroke, even if the ball is oscillating. There is some ambiguity to this rule but not nearly as much as Hodges took.

Hodges incurred a one-stroke penalty for waiting too long for his ball to drop, and his score on that hole was changed from a 4 to a 5.

Golf, man...
