Dennis Quaid slams Facebook for censoring posts about his new Ronald Reagan movie

Dennis Quaid's new movie, Reagan, is set to hit theaters on August 30th, and according to the actor, Facebook is getting in the way of marketing efforts to promote the movie.

Of course, Facebook said that this was all a mistake…

Here's Quaid:

Facebook is once again censoring the free flow of ideas, deciding what's best for us to see and hear; only this time it's throttling advertising and promotion for my movie about Ronald Reagan.

In a letter sent to Mark Zuckerberg from Eric McClellan, the director of digital marketing for Reagan, the most "egregious" example related to a post that included the title of the movie, a picture of Quaid as Ronald Reagan, and the following quote:

Don't let anyone tell you that America's best days are behind her — that the American spirit has been vanquished. We've seen it triumph too often in our lives not to believe it now.

Such a terrifying quote right there.

While the post was permitted, marketers were reportedly not allowed to "boost" its distribution.

In addition, the movie's Facebook page was apparently temporarily suspended on multiple occasions after it shared clips of Quaid talking about the film.

"Like the old Soviet Union — are we turning into a country of tech oligarchs who control the platform of groupthink to silence the individual or 'other' groups?" Quaid asked in a written statement. "My challenge to Facebook is to ask if any of these tactics were used against other recent presidential biopics like Lincoln, LBJ, or Southside with You, a film about President Barack Obama, which was also released during an election year."

Hours after Newsweek published the original story, spokesperson for Facebook came out and basically said the classic, "Oops, our bad."

While there are no restrictions on this page that would prevent the admins from posting, we did identify a handful of ads from this account that were incorrectly rejected. This happened because our automated systems mistakenly determined that content about President Reagan required prior authorization in accordance with our policies for ads about Social Issues, Elections or Politics. This was a mistake and the restriction on the ads has been lifted.

Weird how these accidents always go against conservatives, isn't it?

Here's the trailer for Reagan:
