There were more reported abortions following Roe's overturn than any year in the past DECADE

In 2023, the first full year after the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade was in full effect, the United States saw more abortions than it had in any year for a decade.

The Guttmacher Institute released its report showing that abortion pill use increased in 2023, accounting for 63% of documented abortions, not including self-managed pill abortions.

However, the overall number of abortions was higher in 2023, not just the skyrocketing pill abortion rate.

The recent Guttmacher Institute data comes from its Monthly Abortion Provision Survey, which is not the same as the Abortion Provision Census the organization conducts every three years.

The organization reports that there were an estimated 1,026,690 abortions in the formal U.S. healthcare system in 2023, up 10% from 2020.

How were more babies killed in 2023 with Roe abolished than in 2020 with Roe still in place? The CDC data show virtually the same birth rate for both years.

Of course, the data does show that the increases came from states without "total abortion bans" as described by the pro-aborts at Guttmacher. The rate in those states increased, possibly from "abortion tourism" (what a horrid euphemism).

The study also found that almost every state that did not have what the Guttmacher Institute described as a "total abortion ban" saw their abortion numbers exceed their 2020 totals.

"The 10% increase at the national level in many ways understates the degree to which health systems, providers and support networks have had to scale up care in certain states: States without total bans experienced a 25% increase in abortions in 2023 compared with 2020," the Guttmacher Institute reported. "The sharpest increases were seen in states bordering ban states, where abortions increased by 37% from 2020 to 2023."

Lots of women are traveling out of state to have their babies killed, especially if they miss the window to kill their babies early on with pills.

The 1,026,690 murdered children do NOT include abortions where women sourced pills from home. These are only the "formal" numbers of those who went to a medical facility for "treatment."

Thank God for pro-life victories. Because of Dobbs, residents of many states can now state before God and say they voted their conscience to dismantle the formal abortion systems in their communities.

But the powers behind this culture of death won't give up easily. The fight is just beginning.
