Republican or Democrat, this message on mass formation psychosis is very concerning
· Sep 1, 2022 · NottheBee.com

You may have noticed recently that here in America we're in a bit of a cold civil war. We just don't associate with people who hold different views than us on politics like we used to. We often resent the ones around us simply because of posts they've made on Facebook or the politically motivated t-shirt we saw them wearing one day at the grocery store. It's getting worse every day.

Well, Republican or Democrat, this video I'm about to show you is very important, especially considering this philosophical divide we currently find ourselves in.

Pay close attention to Mattias Desmet, professor of clinical psychology at Ghent University and author of the outstanding The Psychology of Totalitarianism, as he explains the phenomenon of mass formation psychosis and how it is used to nudge societies toward authoritarianism:

Totalitarian states are always a diabolic pact between the masses and their leaders...and in this way a completely new kind of state emerges which is completely different from a classical dictatorship. In a classical dictatorship there is a small group of people, a dictatorial regime, who have such an aggressive potential that people are so scared of them that they can impose unilaterally their social contract to society.

But the totalitarian state emerges in a completely different way. In a totalitarian state there is first the process of mass formation, which is the process through which a certain part of the population, usually about 30 percent, fanatically starts to believe in a certain ideology...

That's scary because there is always 60 or 65 percent of the people who do not really go along with the narrative, but who will never speak out, who will always choose the easy way and go along with this group of people that seems to have the loudest voice. And that's why in the end, up to 95 percent, or even sometimes even more, go along with the totalitarian narrative — with the narrative that led to the mass formation.

And here's the really scary part:

And there is an additional five percent that doesn't go along with it, that tries to speak out, and that's extremely important. If you understand the mechanism of mass formation — if you really understand it — then you know what this small group should do. If it makes the wrong analysis, it will be destroyed in the end. The chance is really high it will be destroyed. If it starts from the correct analysis, it will survive...

People in a mass formation become radically intolerant for dissonant voices, and in the ultimate stage of the mass formation, they will typically start to destroy everyone who doesn't go along with the masses, and they will do so as if it is their ethical duty to do so.

Keep your eyes peeled for this stuff, cuz it's everywhere.

And it's not going to magically disappear.

The best thing we can do is to encourage some of those 65 percent to join up with the five percent and start speaking out. Most of them are simply self-censoring, so it shouldn't be that hard. Pretty soon that five percent number will look more like 20, then 30, and 40 after that.

Never give in!
