The Woke Monster is never satisfied, and it is coming for you.
Added to the list of casualties this week was the world's preeminent atheist, Richard Dawkins:
The axing of Dawkins' "Humanist of the Year" award came after several tweets, including one in March where he said he's worried about the intimidation of scientists by the woke and another in April where he tried to discuss the logic of the transgender movement:
The resulting backlash was severe. The woke acolytes absolutely wrecked him in the comments. There was also outcry over an old tweet of his that dared to suggest that race is irrelevant next to the fact that we are all human beings.
Here was a summary of his opposition's arguments:
A short while later, Dawkins made the fatal mistake of backtracking and apologizing to the woke mob in another tweet. He even threw American Republicans under the bus to try to appease the mob:
"I do not intend to disparage trans people. I see that my academic ‘Discuss' question has been misconstrued as such and I deplore this. It was also not my intent to ally in any way with Republican bigots in US now exploiting this issue."
Ignoring his groveling, the Woke Monster then ate him.
First, the American Humanist Association (AHA) revoked the award they gave him 25 years ago:
"Richard Dawkins was honored in 1996 by the AHA as Humanist of the Year for his significant contributions in this area. Regrettably, Richard Dawkins has over the past several years accumulated a history of making statements that use the guise of scientific discourse to demean marginalized groups, an approach antithetical to humanist values.
His latest statement implies that the identities of transgender individuals are fraudulent, while also simultaneously attacking Black identity as one that can be assumed when convenient. His subsequent attempts at clarification are inadequate and convey neither sensitivity nor sincerity."
The statement concluded by saying the AHA was revoking his award, "effective immediately."
The group American Atheists was also featured in a Newsweek piece that summarily explained why Dawkins is now cancelled:
"We need science communicators like Richard Dawkins to put in the time to learn this information and then communicate it clearly and accurately to the public, not reinforce dangerous and harmful narratives put forward by the opponents of equality," said the group's vice president.
The irony is that Dawkins is arguably the figurehead for the "all we need is science" crowd: those who believe we can have dedication to objective truth outside a moral framework centered around God.
Unfortunately for Dawkins, man is as much a spiritual creature as he is a physical one. By destroying the foundation of traditional religion, men like Dawkins have paved the way for the monstrosity of Wokeism and its subjective reordering of reality.
