Russian troops steal from Ukrainian John Deere dealer, end up hauling $5 million of equipment 700 miles to find out it's been remotely locked out ๐Ÿ˜‚

Russian troops stole about $5 million dollars of farm equipment from a John Deere dealer in the occupied city of Melitopol, Ukraine, but the dealer used the remote locking feature to lock the equipment down and make it unusable.

The equipment was also tracked via the GPS feature and was found 700 miles away in a Zakhan Yurt village in Chechnya.

So much for the spoils of war. They stole themselves the world's biggest paperweights.

However, according to reports,

Russian troops may be trying to find a way around the block, as they're in contact with 'consultants in Russia who are trying to bypass the protection.'

This is not the only high-tech fumble that's come from Russia's looting either. One man has been helping track troop movement by using Apple's "Find My Device" feature on a pair of looted Airpods.

In addition to the tech loot, Russian troops have been taking vast amounts of a low-tech commodity: grain.

Together, Russia and Ukraine make up 25% of the world's exports of grains, and Russia is the world's second largest exporter of fertilizer. When you factor in that China, the world's largest exporter, is banning the export of fertilizer, NATO's sanctions due to Russia's war have suddenly left a good portion of the world hungry, and the rest is paying higher and higher prices for food.

The U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization said last week that its world food-price index reached the highest level in March since it started in 1990.

And on Wednesday, the UN announced that nearly 200 million people are already facing hunger and starvation as of 2021.

...almost 193 million people in 53 countries suffered acute food insecurity in 2021 due to what the U.N. said was a 'toxic triple combination' of conflict, weather extremes and the economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Is it any wonder that the Russians are taking wheat and farming equipment in this high-cost food environment, mostly created by bad policies and totalitarian regimes, including those in the West (I'm looking at you, President Biden).

There's no tracking system or remote shut down feature that will fix starvation.
