Now this is just sad. Over the last few years Spain has become infamous for their many art restoration projects gone wrong.

In the past we've had classics destroyed, most famously the botched portrait of Jesus that went viral several years back, a truly disturbing fail. One that brought attention to the world of art restoration in a very bad way. This was done by an amateur art restorer.

Then it happened again, this time with a portrait of the virgin Mary. This one was done by a professional, so we learned our lesson on amateurs. Unfortunately, it was a professional furniture cleaner. AND THEY WERE GIVEN TWO ATTEMPTS! This fail is embarrassing.

How could this happen again?

Then this poor guy. St. George went from fierce young dragonslayer to, well, a poor confused kid on a horse.

After this statue was botched, you would think the people in Spain would be very very careful when taking on these types of projects. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me 3 times? Well, may as well go for a fourth at this point. Go big or go home.

This final piece, which was "restored" in Spain, may be the ugliest and most shocking of them all.

What did they do to the face? Who did they put in charge this time? This looks like a job that may have been done by Kruger Industrial Smoothing under George Costanza's watch. How do they let it get this far?

SPAIN! Get. It. Together.

People are calling it the potato head face. Maybe if it's the Picasso version. Picasso was from Spain come to think of it...

Looking at it more closely I'm starting to see a familiar face...
