This is just poetic.
That's San Francisco District Supervisor Hillary Ronen literally begging the chief of police for more officers in her district.
"We've been begging for more foot beats and more officers in the Mission District.
"I've been begging this department to give the Mission what it deserves in terms of police presence all year long. And I have been told time and time and time and time again there are no officers that we can send to Mission.
"It hurts and I feel betrayed by the department. I feel betrayed by the mayor. I feel betrayed by the priorities of the city. It is not this board of supervisors' priorities — we want our residents safe! We don't want our residents getting shot, getting assaulted, getting killed — because in the Mission, chief, it's not theft. In the Mission people are getting shot and killed! ... In the Mission people are dying!"
She's begging! Begging! She feels hurt and betrayed! People are dying! She just wants her residents to be safe! People are getting shot and killed! She needs more cops in her district but keeps getting told there aren't enough available officers! And people are getting killed!
Got all that? OK, now read the following tweets from the distinguished Miss Ronen from 2020. Read them slowly; really take the time to savor the flavor in each one:
She was fighting tooth and nail for less funding for law enforcement and fewer cops on the street. What did I say? Poetic.
And unfortunately, the 2020 version of Hillary Ronen got her way. That year, Mayor London Breed defunded $120 million from law enforcement and redirected it to other city initiatives (probably ridiculous woke causes).
You can guess what happened next ... homicides in San Fran jumped by 20% in 2020 compared to 2019, and then increased 17% in 2021 compared to 2020.
Now Ronen is begging for more cops, but there aren't enough in the city because she and her woke acolytes mobilized a movement to defund them. There is no money for more cops! You took it away, Miss Ronen!
So is she now championing the cause of re-funding law enforcement to slow the bloodshed in her city? What causes is she using her office and influence to try to get funded now? Oh ... here's a tweet from her from less than a week ago pushing for millions and millions of dollars in race-based reparations:
"Millions and millions?" Yes — $5 million to every black resident. You can't make this stuff up.
