SCOTUS declines to lift judge's ruling ordering Trump administration to "de-deport" suspected MS-13 gang member

Another day, another court ruling throwing a wrench in the gears of the president's agenda, as the United States Supreme Court declined to lift an order issued by a lower court judge that requires the Trump administration to "facilitate the return" of a deported El Salvadorian MS-13 gang member.

From The Hill:

The administration acknowledges Abrego Garcia was wrongly removed but argued the courts cannot mandate his return since he is now in the hands of Salvadoran authorities, who are detaining him in the country's notorious CECOT prison.

Abrego Garcia's representation argued that a previous court ruling should have kept him in the U.S.

Abrego Garcia has lived in Maryland since 2011, when he was 16 years old. In 2019, an immigration judge issued an order preventing authorities from deporting him back to El Salvador over concerns he would face violence there.

Though Abrego Garcia is not a U.S. citizen, he was incorrectly deported in March due to an "administrative error" during the Trump administration's large-scale operation to round up and ship illegal aliens to El Salvador.

Despite the administration's argument that the courts lacked the authority to interfere with the executive branch's foreign relations, the Supreme Court refused to lift the order.

So, it looks like it'll be just like the old days when the U.S. was welcoming MS-13 gang members into the country. That should be a fun homecoming...

And it seems we've missed the deadline for giving Abrego Garcia's return plan to the judge.

Fine by me..

Maybe someday it'll feel like the good(er), old(er) days when the Supreme Court was more focused on protecting citizens of the United States.
