I'm sorry to inform you, but "ecosexual" is a thing now. Let this married woman who's in love with an oak tree explain.

New year, new eco-crazed lunacy.

Sonja Semyonova is a 45-year-old Canadian woman (of course, it had to be a Canadian) living on Vancouver Island, who describes herself as a nature lover, self-intimacy coach, AND an "ecosexual."

According to the glowing National Post article, which claims, "tapping into our erotic connection to nature could help fight environmental crises," Sonja "had been craving that rush of erotic energy that comes when you meet a new partner (which) is not sustainable."

During her daily walks through a marsh swamp near her home, she found the one. A tall, dark, and handsome oak tree.

They took things slow. Sonja would visit the tree five days a week in the winter 2020, and only after getting to know each other better did the relationship turn to love in the summer of 2021.

One particular tree in that grove called to me, so I began to stop daily at this particular grove tree ...

I began to lean against it, to hold it and feel held by it.

Did I forget to mention Sonja is a married woman? Poor guy ...

In a video post on social media, Sonja says the tree never failed her. It was never too needy or distant; it always welcomed her in a way "no other human relationship has ever done."

Sonja explained the connection is not based on physical intimacy, yet she experiences a unique form of erotic satisfaction unrelated to human sexuality. She also says there are folks out there who are also having such experiences with nature without realizing it.

A big misconception is that ecosexuality means sex between people and nature, it's a different way to explore the erotic.

To watch the changing of the seasons is to me an erotic act.

Ah, the downfall of civilization is fascinating to watch, no?
