"HE WAS A FAR-RIGHT MAGAT!"
"HE WAS A LEFTWING DEMONCRAT!"
Such are the comments after mass shootings and other heinous crimes.
On Sunday, a Michigan man rammed his truck into a Mormon (Church of Latter-day Saints) chapel, opened fire with a gun, and then lit the church on fire with gasoline. Police responded in 8 minutes and quickly put him down, but the chapel was consumed by the blaze.
Four people died and eight were injured, with the victims' ages ranging from six to 78. π
Almost immediately, the internet needed to figure out WHOSE SIDE HE WAS ON.
In the case of the first post, the Thomas J. Sanford is a different person. Svilen there didn't even bother to note that the men's faces are completely different, let alone the fact that they live in different states.
In the case of the second, they've cherry-picked their facts, as if one criminal fitting their preferred stereotypes disproves other widespread examples of violence from other demographics.
Such brain rot is EVERYWHERE today. It's gotten so bad that the few of us who do actually care about the truth have to sift through dung-piles of propaganda just to get an approximation of the truth.
So here's what we know.
Thomas J. Sanford was, by all accounts, a Trump supporter ... at least in 2019. Voters in Michigan are not required to register with a party, and many voters switch regularly between Democrat, Republicans, and third-party candidates. Here is a Facebook photo of Sanford 6 years ago wearing a Trump shirt (archived here). My name is visible in the comment section to authenticate that I pulled the pic directly from Facebook. This is necessary because major right-wing accounts are passing around a photo with "Trump 2020" edited out of the pic.
Sanford also shared vaguely rightwing views that included posting memes making fun of liberals. According to some leftwing accounts, this made him essentially the same as Charlie Kirk or something.
Sanford had a "long-standing anger" toward Mormons and considered them the "antichrist." Beyond that, we have no current evidence as to his beliefs. Was he a disciple of Christ who understood that there are major theological differences between Mormons and Christians as to the basic nature of God and salvation? Or was he more loosely affiliated with the American flavor of Therapeutic Moral Deismβ’ that is often branded "Christianity" these days? To that, I'd ask you if someone who actually knows and obeys the words of Jesus Christ would shoot people in their houses of worship.
Sanford was a Marine veteran (2004-2008) who served overseas in Japan before deploying to Fallujah, Iraq, in 2008 for six months, where he worked as a mechanic and "wrecker" who helped recover damaged vehicles. He was awarded multiple medals during his time in service and was described in 2007 by his local paper as a 22-year-old with a "stellar" record.
Sanford had a criminal history, having been arrested for burglary and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
As indicated by the initial Facebook post, Sanford and his wife have a son with a rare condition called congenital hyperinsulinism that causes elevated insulin levels in the body.
It's important for the public to have a full picture of suspects in violent criminal acts. This is true whether we are shining a light on the rampant violence of young black men in inner cities, the human trafficking networks of illegal alien predators, the derangement of transgender anarcho-communists who decide to assassinate college speakers, or angry rightwing vets who have gotten it into their heads that they need to wage holy war.
But that doesn't stop people from posting hot takes to score political points π
As what would be billed a "rightwing" news outlet, we are more than willing to report the truth to you.
The mainstream media is not, however. The majority of Democrats still believe that the suspect in Charlie Kirk's assassination was rightwing. Half of the nation, at minimum, still doesn't know the truth about crime statistics and political violence in our nation.
This has consequences. Because the Left is unwilling to admit the exponential rise in violence from its own side of the aisle, you get deranged posts like these all over liberal social media:
The worst.
