Snopes rates true claim "mostly false"
· Aug 24, 2020 · NottheBee.com

On more than one occasion, Democrats excluded the words "under God" during caucus meetings at the Democratic National Convention. Incredibly, Snopes acknowledged the omission yet still rated the claim that it happened "mostly false."

Under the heading "What's True," Snopes wrote:

The phrase 'under God' was omitted from at least two recitations of the Pledge of Allegiance at individual caucus meetings during the DNC in 2020.

So how do they justify the "mostly false" rating? They explained:

The DNC did not issue any guidelines forbidding the use of the phrase.

But that was never the claim. No one said the DNC issued guidelines forbidding anything. The claim was merely that the phrase "under God" had been omitted. Snopes shamelessly tacked a little extra onto the claim in order to justify debunking it.

And they call themselves the internet's definitive fact-checkers. 🤦🏻‍♂️
