Sorry, Mr. Edison: As of this week, the Biden admin has made it illegal to make or sell incandescent light bulbs

Those lovely, warm, reliable, bright, pleasant incandescent bulbs that have lit our homes for the past hundred years? They're a thing of the past now:

America's ban on incandescent light bulbs, 16 years in the making, is finally a reality. Well, mostly.

A rule issued in 2007, rolled back by the Trump administration, and updated last year by the Biden administration, effectively bans the sale of common incandescent light bulbs. The rule went fully into effect Tuesday, August 1.

Translation: You can thank Joe Biden for implementing this stupid rule.

The rule, finalized in April of last year, "states that light bulbs must emit a minimum of 45 lumens per watt." Those dependable incandescent bulbs only put out 15 lumens per watt, so they're gone.

What that means is you're going to have to switch to LED lights. You know, those lights with the weirder, softer, frustratingly vague light. There's something about that light that you just can't quite put your finger on. You only know it's not as good as the light emitted by Mr. Edison's design.

So why is the Department of Energy doing this? Come on, you know why:

The Department of Energy estimates the rules will save US consumers close to $3 billion on their utility bills, and project it will also cut planet-warming carbon emissions by 222 million metric tons over the next 30 years.

So it's the global warming thing. That's it.

Thanks for making our lights just a little less enjoyable to use, President Biden.
