St. Petersburg storm sends a blue fireball arcing down neighborhood power lines. I think I’ve seen this movie.

This is one of the craziest things I've ever seen.

A storm in the Shore Acres area of St. Petersburg did something to their power lines and sent this wild electric fireball crawling through their neighborhoods.

Duke Energy said the phenomenon is called "arcing" and occurs when something hits a power line and there is a fault, in this case a tree, extreme winds or flying debris.

"The fault caused damage to our overhead equipment as well as to the substation that fed power to this area," Duke Energy said in a statement

"Arcing" huh?

Maybe.

Honestly, it reminds me of that insane electric gremlin in Gremlins 2.

Maybe he finally got loose from the purgatory of listening to Kenny G forever while on hold in the office phone system.
