For years, Starbucks has been circling the "go woke, go broke" drain, and they've been trying to reverse course: ending their open bathrooms policy, going back to plastic straws, and even reportedly disallowing pride decorations.
They've tried everything short of not burning their beans or lowering the price of their drinks to lure back the other half of the country they spurned and have only managed to upset the folks still going to Starbucks.
Now according to CNN, Starbucks has announced massive layoffs and store closures.
Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol announced Thursday that Starbucks will close hundreds of stores this month, or about 1% of its locations.
That's roughly 500 stores.
Niccol explained to employees the company underwent a review of its footprint and the locations that will close were ones ‘unable to create the physical environment our customers and partners expect, or where we don't see a path to financial performance.'
Starbucks is also laying off another 900 corporate positions, on top of the 1,000 positions laid off in February.
But Niccol has more plans to save the company.
He's raising wages 2% (for everyone not losing their job), and He's remodeling 1,000 stores to make them cozy coffee shops again.

I'm not sure how any of that will help anyone afford coffee at Starbucks or believe that they've really changed back into a place that just sells coffee again, but we'll see.
