Well, this is interesting.
A study from the Netherlands published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior found that women in lesbian relationships are 69% MORE LIKELY to commit crimes compared to straight women.
On the other hand, gay men are 32% LESS LIKELY to commit crimes compared to their heterosexual counterparts.
The main theories as to why lesbians are much more violent than gay men, according to study's author Steve G. A. van de Weijer, are that:
Growing up, sexual minorities may have dealt with more stress because of the fact that they are gay, which leads to higher crime rates compared to heterosexuals.
Women in lesbian relationships would be more likely to commit crimes due to the effects of sexual hormones, particularly testosterone.
The authors used data from Statistics Netherlands, which tracks whether people are in same-sex or opposite-sex relationships and their criminal behavior.
They looked at data from over 3.5 million people, about 2% of whom had been in a same-sex relationship at least once (around 75,000 people).
Of these, 15% were suspected of committing a crime between 1996 and 2020, and 90% of those accused were found guilty or paid a fine.
The study found that 22% of men in opposite-sex relationships were suspected of a crime, compared to only 14% of men in same-sex relationships.
For women, 7% in straight relationships were crime suspects, while just under 9% of women in same-sex relationships were suspected.
This pattern held for all types of crime except drug offenses, where 0.5% of women in both types of relationships were accused.
The results of the study suggested that men in opposite-sex relationships were more often suspected of crime than were men in same-sex relationships, while women in opposite-sex relationships were less often suspected of crime than women in same-sex relationships.
So, if I am reading this correctly, lesbians seem to have more rage than gay men!
