Report: Illegal migrant who shot Texas cop was set to be deported, but a judge gave him until 2026 to roam the country

Oh look, another horrific migrant crime that never should've happened.

This is Jorge Chacon-Gutierrez, a Venezuelan man who, according to a source in Homeland Security, crossed the southern border in November 2023.

Records showed Chacon-Gutierrez was apprehended by border authorities in Eagle Pass, Texas in November 2023 for being unlawfully present in the United States. He was given a notice to appear at a later date and he was released from federal custody without any conditions of bond or release, the records indicated.

But look at this:

Chacon-Gutierrez, however, asked to make his claim before an immigration judge, who quickly vacated his order of removal and let his case continue.

Yup, the judge gave him an extended stay until April 2026 because that's just what we do now.

And this week, well,

Jorge Chacon-Gutierrez, 25, is the the man law enforcement sources say shot and critically injured an officer responding to an assault call around 3 a.m. Sunday morning ...

Police said Chacon-Gutierrez was laying in bed with a rifle and when officers went to the apartment where the family violence assault allegedly occurred, he opened fire on them.

Officers returned fire while retreating and the department's SWAT unit and tactical resources were deployed to get Chacon-Gutierrez to surrender, but around 8 a.m. officers went in and discovered he was deceased, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said. It is too early to determine if Chacon-Gutierrez died by the officers' gunfire or his own, police said.

A female officer was shot multiple times and was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

When will this insanity end?
