We can disagree on whether the tuna sandwiches are real tuna or not, but Subway's Megan Rapinoe ads are an absolute deal-breaker.
Many Subway franchise owners and customers seem to think so, too.
"Boycott Subway until Subway fires the anti-American […] Megan Rapinoe, the creep who kneels for our beloved National Anthem!" said a customer's note to a Wisconsin Subway franchisee. The customer posted the note on the door of his store.
The unnamed franchisee shared a picture of the note in a discussion forum hosted by the North American Association of Subway Franchisees (NAASF).
"The ad should be pulled and done with," the franchisee said about Rapinoe TV spot. "It gets tiring apologizing."
This customer and franchisee aren't alone.
NAASF executive director Illya Berecz said the "NAASF Board has already communicated with [Subway] leadership the concerns voiced by NAASF membership."
"I had a bunch of franchisees calling me on this," said a lawyer who represents Subway franchisees. "They are trying to get the ads pulled."
Hey Subway, feel free to replace Rapinoe with ANY of these honorable athletes.
I'm certain Subway's sales would go up, whether the tuna's real or not.
