Surprise! The new "Winnie the Pooh" horror flick gets canceled in Hong Kong.

The new Winnie the Pooh horror movie, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, was all set to make its debut in Hong Kong this week.

But for some reason the movie was cancelled.

The film distributor in Hong Kong, VII Pillars, cited technical issues, but there's some suspicion that the movie's subject matter may have been the real issue.

Ever since 2013 when netizens compared an image of Barack Obama and Xi Xinping to Tigger and Winnie the Pooh, China has had a very anti-Pooh stance.

Protestors in China and around the world often invoke the lovable Pooh bear as a stand-in for Xi Jinping.

And if China has a problem with the sweet lovable Pooh, imagine how upset they would be with the bloodthirsty ursine depicting their leader in Blood and Honey.

It's arguably a more accurate version, considering Xi's ruthless rise to power over the last decade.

Terrifying!
