For the first time in history, a man has been nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars

To be quite honest, I'm actually surprised that it took this long to get a trans person nominated for Best Actress:

The first trans person ever to be nominated for an acting category at the Oscars.

Spanish-born actor Karla Sofía Gascón made history Thursday as the first openly transgender performer to be nominated for a best actress Oscar.

Ms. Gascón earned the nod for her [sic] lead role in 'Emilia Pérez,' a musical drama directed by Jacques Audiard.

Same dude from this story:

The musical "tells the story of a Mexican cartel leader who transitions and dedicates her life to helping gang violence victims."

Not trying to be cruel here but not sure the cartel is gonna buy this "transition."

Gascón, meanwhile, has been busy asserting his identity far and wide.

For instance, French politician Marion Maréchal earlier this year "referred to [him] as 'a man' in a social media post decrying [his] awards win at the Cannes Film Festival in France." And that was simply too much for Gascón:

[Mr.]. Gascón responded by filing a lawsuit against Mr. Maréchal for what [he] described as a 'sexist insult.'

[His] lawyer said the legal complaint was levied for 'sexist insult on the basis of gender identity,' according to The Guardian.

No shame in saying it if it's true:
