This may be the world record for grasping at straws, courtesy of Asheesh Kapure Siddique, Assistant Professor of History at the University of Massachussets:
Quote:
"The modern American university is a right-wing institution. The right's dominance of academia and its reign over universities is destroying higher education, and the only way to save the American university is for students and professors to take back control of campuses."
Man, I must have REALLY misunderstood my years in college. I mean, sure, I was forced to take numerous classes that taught me how horrible white Christian males were.
And I routinely felt I would be graded down if I committed the thoughtcrime of disagreeing with the woke.
And I was chewed out (largely by fellow students) when I did speak up, including the time in a "U.S. Diversity" class that I dared challenge the professor's lecture that posited abortion as a victory for human rights.
I've also seen nearly every major university adopt "equity" statements, penalize Christian campus organizations for requiring leaders to believe Christian things, bully opponents into submission, and parrot 99.9% of what Hollywood, the government, and all our other woke institutions are preaching.
I must have just been imagining things!
Quote:
"The corporate capitalist regime that controls American university boards today has manufactured the current crisis of higher education by inflating tuition to compensate for state funding cuts while passing on the debt to students; hiring contingent rather than tenure-line staff to pay teachers less while withholding the security of academic freedom; and appointing administrators who are ultimately accountable to the regime."
Siddique goes on to say that Harvard's corporation has "six MBAs and only four Ph.Ds." and that their board of overseers includes "senior leaders from Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, McKinsey & Company, Google, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta."
He also cites Oberlin College, which he says is "widely regarded as one of the most left-leaning and progressive institutions in the country," noting that recent and current board members include "a partner at the investment bank Lion's Head; the president & COO of a national radio conglomerate; the CEO of the investment bank Marathon Capital; a portfolio manager at Fidelity Investments; and a vice president at Apple."
Ah, yes, those ultra-conservative execs over at Apple!
And as for Goldman Sachs and others...
Here's the logic behind this absurdity:
- Premise 1: Universities are controlled by their school boards.
- Premise 2: School boards have many high-level business executives, including investment bankers, CEOs, and vice presidents.
- Conclusion: Therefore, universities are right-wing.
If you're a sane person who understands current woke culture, human nature, or Wall Street, you might be thinking there's a slight logical gap here.
Let this random Russian peasant explain:
* * *
The lie that the Left continues to peddle is that Wall Street is conservative, when execs gave overwhelmingly to Biden and other left-wing candidates in 2020 and have been doing so for years.
If you're still confused, here's an article that might help.
Here's a graphic to assist as well:
For anyone who's not indoctrinated in the Cult of Woke, going to university is a trial-by-fire where you will be told how evil and stupid and backward you are. There's a reason why the majority of teens from conservative Christian families get infected by the woke virus and fall away from faith in college.
Still, Siddique argues that labor movements must organize across the people, cancel all debt and force taxpayers to pay for the indoctrination of their children, and create "shared governance" so that professors won't have any pesky accountability in their crusade to forge the utopia of the New Man.
You know, stuff that's totally not Marxist and trying to remake America in the image of Karl Marx, Joseph Stalin, or Mao Zedong.
So what's really going on here? Why would a professor of history and a woke magazine made for teenagers promote the idea that universities are actually alt-right havens of the capitalist #Patriarchy?
I'll let Mr. MacIntyre answer that:
