Alaska might have their fat bears competition, but Texas has fat animals too!
According to MySanAntonio, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department launched their inaugural Fat Squirrel Week on October 19.
The state agency stated in a Facebook post, โIt's Texas' turn to showcase the fluffiest, chubbiest SQUIRRELS around!' With 16 different Texas State Parks participating in the first Fat Squirrel Week, the state was bound to see some hefty contenders.
The 16 squirrels ran through a brackets tournament scored by most likes and comments on social media.
This year's winner was a rotund rodent named "Chunkasaurus Rex" from Dinosaur Valley State Park.
It somehow beat out Fort Richardson's "Chunk Norris."
I know the old saying is that everything is bigger in Texas, but honestly, Texas's fat squirrels look like they've been hanging around RFK Jr. too much.

New York's been doing a fat squirrel week for years, and just take a look at their lardos! ๐
