Elizabeth Francis, of Houston, Texas, just celebrated her 114th birthday, making her the oldest living person in the Lone Star State, and the second oldest in the U.S.

Francis was born in Louisiana in 1909, the same year William Taft was elected President. In her 114 years, she has seen a few things, but most important to her, was seeing the next five generations of her own family.

She celebrated her milestone birthday alongside family members, including her daughter, Dorothy Williams.

At 94, Williams says that people find it hard to believe her when she talks about her mother. She told KTRK-TV that when she tells people her mother's age,

They don't say you're crazy, they just say you're lying.

Williams went on to say about her mother's life,

It's hard to believe, but it's a blessing because she has been a wonderful mother and grandmother to all of us. She has been our backbone.

When asked about the secret to her long life, Francis simply said it was a blessing from the Lord. She said that she never smoked or drank throughout her life, but she eats everything.

When asked how it felt to be 114, Francis told KTRK-TV,

I don't know. I just thank the good Lord for keeping me.
