The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has all kinds of rules when it comes to Oscar nominations; we've even covered some of the most obnoxious like the infamous "inclusion" standards:

But there is one thing that Academy members haven't been strictly required to do, and that's watch the movies they're voting to award.

At least until now.

According to NBCNews, Academy members will now be required to watch all the movies they are voting for.

To be eligible to vote, members must watch all five films in each Oscar category and all 10 in the best picture category, the academy said.

Talk about torture!

I know it's hard to believe that the members of the Academy haven't been watching the movies for which they're voting, but how else can you explain this year's "Best Picture"?

Or the fact that Matt Walsh's documentary didn't win anything?

Of course the new rule has no teeth whatsoever.

You do not need to save movie stubs, tickets or receipts. This is an honor system.

The Academy even has the means to ensure all the films get watched, as they have a private streaming service members have access to, which records whether the film is watched in it's entirety or not.

However, there's also a little check box on the service that says "watched" for members who see it at a film festival or at the box office.

So, all the members have to do is say, "Of course, I watched them all," and vote for whatever woke drivel is in vogue at the moment.

Considering the movie studios just had their worst year in three decades, you would think they'd understand it's not just them who don't want to watch films like Intersectional Queer BIPOCS In Love 3.
