For about two years we've been told that if you test positive for COVID then you basically have to burn all of your possessions and exile yourself to Siberia for seven years and wear a HAZMAT suit for the rest of your life.
This week California was like, "You know what, on second thought, nope:"
State officials are attempting to address California's staffing shortage through a sweeping policy change that allows asymptomatic healthcare workers who have tested positive for the coronavirus to return to work immediately. The policy, set to remain in place through Feb. 1, is designed to keep many healthcare workers on the job at a time when hospitals are expecting more patients.
Some experts say California's stance is an unorthodox yet necessary solution to a difficult problem. Yet many healthcare workers and community members say the policy is not only ill-advised, it's potentially dangerous.
Here is the actual policy from the California state website:
From January 8, 2022 until February 1, 2022, HCP who test positive for SARS-CoV-2 and are asymptomatic, may return to work immediately without isolation and without testing, and HCPs who have been exposed and are asymptomatic may return to work immediately without quarantine and without testing. These HCPs must wear an N95 respirator for source control.
Keep in mind ... this is after hospitals in California decided to threaten the jobs of healthcare workers who would not get vaccinated ...
So let's get this straight. After threatening to fire any healthcare worker who is not vaxxed, California is now making Covid-positive healthcare workers show up and work because of staff shortages.
Everybody got that? Makes sense, eh?
We live in clown world.
